Alien Out of the Shadows
I was asked by Audible Originals to work on their biggest release to-date, an entirely new original drama set within the famous Alien universe, called Alien: Out of the Shadows. I always relish the challenge to come up with something new and creative. This time it was no different but the stakes were higher due to the franchise’s huge stature spanning over 4 decades.
I was commissioned to develop 3 key approaches. The creation of totally original master artwork and to also develop, create and produce 2 promotional trailers.
The brief was to create key artwork that would be used for the cover and all advertising platforms. This creative had sit within the Alien brand, but take a completely new visual approach. It also needed to portray the iconic shape and form of the Alien without directly showing the creature. The effect was to be striking, unsettling and eye catching.
Due to the wide scope of the work and the tight deadline I decided to put together a team to work with me on the project.
The solution was to build a 3D model of the Alien head and to have this push through what appears to be skin, thus casting strong shadow forms and revealing the iconic xenomorphic silhouette.
