Romeo and Jude
Audible came to me to develop a small promotional trailer and master artwork for their brand new modern-day audio drama adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic love story Romeo and Julliet. Starring Owen Teale, Matthew Tennyson and Nick Moran the play centers around two men with very different lives, brought together when cast in the roles of Romeo and Juliet - 'as Shakespeare would have it'.
Several creative routes were explored but due to time limitations a ‘behind the scenes’ interview based trailer was preferred. For the main creative, I chose to focus on the intensity of the relationship between the 2 characters.
The holding of hands portrays the multi faceted nature of their of their growing relationship. Equal parts emotional, physical, and physiological, we felt that when developed in a simple and yet powerful way this image would capture the true soul of the drama. I worked with the wonderful artist Tanja Hehn to create an original painting for the master artwork. A hand drawn title was then created to complement this crafted artistic approach.
I then teamed up with my creative partner Bart Reszelski to develop, edit and create a interview based promotional trailer for the drama.
The drama had a fantastic reaction from the customers
